James Oswald Goza

James Oswald Goza passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022.   He was born on August 11, 1941 in Alabama and was a graduate of Tishomingo County High School.  James obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Mississippi and his Master’s Degree in Education from University of South Florida. He was an AutoTechnology Professor at South Florida Community College for over 30 years.  He resided in Avon Park, Florida for 52 years. He was an avid Field Trialer with the United Field Trialers Association and enjoyed training his dogs and spending his weekends competing on the trails.

He is proceeded in death by his Paternal grandparents; Father – James R. Goza; Step-mother – Sue Goza; Mother – Nellie Mae Oliver Keeton; and Sisters – Cathy Clements and Rachel Goza: Brother Paul Goza.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Conerly Goza of 47 years; Sisters – Carolyn Gresham (Sydney); MaryAnn Clement (Roger); Brothers – Danny Goza; Jimmy Dale Goza (Ann);  Son – Jim Goza (Gloria) of Denver, CO; Daughter – Sophia Bonjokian of Sebring FL; Granddaughters – Mariah Prevatte (Zachary) of Bartow, FL; Maria Herring (Paul) of Denver, CO; 2 other Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm at Stephenson Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park (111 East Circle Street Avon Park).  In lieu of flowers please make donate to Good Shepherd Hospice. Graveside services will be held at Lindsey Cemetery in Dennis, MS.
