James Allan Gerow, 72, passed away suddenly in his sleep Jan 14, 2012 while vacationing in Florida. Jim was born June 9, 1939 in Lansing, MI to the late Allan and Irene(Grigg) Gerow. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Myrna (Schultz) Gerow of Gladwin Michigan; children: Cheryl Jackson (Rich) of Glenview IL, Mark Schultz, Midland, MI Michael Schultz (Julie) Gladwin, MI, Michelle Gerow-Ellis (Jeff) Duluth, MN and Michael Gerow (Kellie) Gladwin, MI ; 12 grandchildren: Kevin Schultz, Kristin Schultz, Katie Ellis, Gary Schultz, Breanna Gerow, Tricia Scheall, Jake Hadd, Jake Ruff, Allison Greer, Amber Duby, Erin Duby and and Justin Greer; one great grand dauthter: Elizabeth Gerow-Piach; siblings: Judy (Dave) Kebler of Beaverton and Larry (Ruth Ann) Gerow of Beaverton; brother and sister in law: Robert and Carolyn Landskroener of Gladwin Michigan; ex-wife: Lois (Nearing) Lenarsic of Gladwin of whom he was married to for 22 years; several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and god children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Irene Gerow, brother in law, Dave Kebler, and grandson, Matthew Schultz. Jim graduated from Beaverton High School in 1957. He attended Michigan State University. Jim served his country in the Air force from 1960-1964. He was stationed at Larson Air force Base in Moses Lake Washington earning the rank of Airman 1st Class. He worked at Brown Machine in Sales, Roehrs Chevrolet, Graff Chevrolet, and retired from Aid Association for Lutherans (Thrivent) in 1998. He was active in the community on the hospital board and church council at Our Savior Lutheran Church. He reminisced often about bowling trips he took with Dale Brown, Lenny Clark, Harry Coney, Allan Gerow, Larry Gerow, Louie Hoffman, Mike Job, Don Lyons, and Rich Roehrs. During retirement he has enjoyed traveling with Myrna to Avon Park Florida, traveling with Robert and Carolyn, and visiting family and friends. Jim loved to work in the yard, tend to the flowers, golf, walk, play cards, help his children with their house projects, and attend as many as the grandchildrens activities as possible. He was a loving and devoted husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. Jim/Dad/Grandpa, will forever be in our hearts and on our minds. He was adored and greatly loved by all. Visitation will be at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home at 440 E. Cedar Avenue in Gladwin Michigan Wednesday Jan 25, 2012 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held Thursday Jan 26th 2012 at 11:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church 331 Clendening Rd in Gladwin Michigan. A luncheon will be served following the funeral service at the church. Pastor Tim Verity officiating. The family has asked that in lieu of sending flowers or plants, a memoriam could be sent to Our Savior Lutheran Church for the Sunday school and youth group.
