James D. Ferrare

James D. Ferrare, Jr., 86, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 surrounded with the love and spirit of his family. Jim was born in Rome, New York on June 2nd, 1928, the son of James D. and Philomena (Pinti) Ferrare. Locally raised and educated, Jim entered his father's Plumbing and Heating Business as a teenager, and worked as a master plumber and pipefitter for over 50 years. He was a member of the UA Local #112, Binghamton, N.Y. Jim served overseas during the Korean Conflict and was a U.S. Army veteran. On September 22, 1951, he was united in marriage to Rose A. Merhib, a blessed and loving union of 63 years. Jim was an avid car enthusiast and a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and Syracuse University college basketball. Go Orange! Jim was a devoted husband and father, and a friend to all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo and her companion Matthew Conley, of Clinton, New York, a son, James D. Ferrare and his wife Rebecca, of Jensen Beach, Florida, two granddaughters, Jessica and Jami Farrare, and a cherished great-granddaughter, Kaia Rose Ferrare, all of Miami, Florida. Jim is also survived by his four-legged friends, Piper, Dolly and Daisy. The family extends their profound appreciation to Lisa and Luis Rodriguez, and the staff of Kenilworth Care and Rehabilitation Center, for making Jim's final journey one of compassion, humor, and peace. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 22nd at the Sebring Christian Church, 4514 Hammock Rd. Sebring.
