James (Jim) Allen Eakin passed away peacefully on January 16, 2020 at The Palms in Sebring, FL. He was born to Othal and Mary Alice (Reed) Eakin on July 3, 1941 in Atkins, Arkansas. He lived most of his life in Cape Girardeau, MO but became a resident of Avon Park, FL in 2019. Jim married Michelle Armstrong on 12- 20-2019, and he worked for 20 years being a Barber in Cape Girardeau, he owned and operated Campus Barber shop and later at Campus Auto and Tire and retired in 2012. After retiring Jim loved to travel with his wife Michelle, animals in their toy hauler and later settling in Avon Park. He was an avid golfer, loved riding his motorcycle, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. Jim touched the hearts of everyone he met and his great sense of humor. He will be truly missed but never forgotten by those who knew him. He leaves behind his best friend and devoted wife of 20 years Michelle, son: Chris Eakin, daughter: Dr. Lori Nesslein, Casey Rouggly ; 7 grandchildren: Tyler, Krisman, Kaylee, Brynn, Mason, Miles and Collyn, and their two dogs: Trixie, Boscoe; brothers: Dr. Kenneth ( Max) Eakin ( Linda) , Terry; sister: Sandy (Bob) Benefield; aunt Francis ; cousins, nieces, nephews. Jim is preceded by his parents; sisters: Cleo Burton and Betty Rampley; Brenda his first wife. He was a member of Cape Elks 639, Linwood Baptist Church. In leu of flowers the family asks for donations made to a charity of your choice in Jim’s name. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 4-8 P.M , Elks service is at 7:00 P.M and the funeral service will be Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 11:00 A.M at Ford & Sons Funeral Home 1001 N. Mt. Auburn rd. Cape Girardeau, MO.
