James Robert Burrows born 6/27/50 in Belle Plaine IA, finally left this crazy world on Friday, 12/16/16 at age 66 at his home in Sebring, FL. He was a brilliant man with a witty sense of humor and a larger than life personality. Growing up in Belle Plaine, IA, he attended Belle Plaine Community High School where he graduated as Senior Class President in 1969. One of his first jobs was at the local family newspaper, Burrows Publishing Company. His hard work allowed him to grow into a successful sales representative for a major tobacco company. His success in the company may have also been his demise, ironically he died from a lung related illness. He was just a loyal kind of guy, a principled person, and very down to earth. He loved talking and enjoyed conversation with anyone. Much like his father, he initiated conversation with strangers which included some strange people. He marched to the beat of his own drum. He became a master woodworker which was a beloved hobby. A hobby that he was forced to give up due to his chronic lung disease. Later in life Jim enjoyed watching sports and texting game commentary to his Midwest friends. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Kris (Burrows) & Dave Schultz of Madison, WI. One niece, Katie (Jason) Schmidt of Stoughton, WI and two nephews David (Abby) Schultz of Green Bay, WI and Andrew (Cassie) Schultz of Madison, WI. Two stepchildren Erica Zoratti Reilly, & Jason (Mary) Reilly, of Sebring and 4 grandchildren Gavin, Mia, & Reilly Cool, and Finn Reilly. Family also includes great nephew and nieces: Evan & Abigail Schmidt and Taeya & Kailee Schultz along with former spouses Judy Porterfield and Christi Zoratti. There will be no services in Florida. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital in his name.
