James Orville Brock, 91, of Avon Park, FL, passed away at home on Sunday, June 28, 2026. He was born on February 21, 1935, in Black Fork, Ohio, to William W. and Lillie (Hendershott) Brock. He was one of eleven siblings.

Jim joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and met his future bride, Julia Lewicki, in Washington, D.C. They married October 11, 1959 and lived in suburban Maryland. Jim became a master electrician, working for the U.S. Government for many years.

Jim and Julia became parents to Elizabeth and James, and eventually built their dream home in Huntingtown, MD, in 1977. It was a family affair, with several Brock brothers lending a hammer.

He retired in 1995, when he and Julia moved to Port Charlotte, FL, later relocating to Avon Park in 2000. They attended Unity Church and Quaker Friends meetings.

Jim loved refinishing antique furniture and found much joy in cooking. His skills on the Big Green Egg are legendary. He also volunteered at ARC and became a fixture around Lake Chilton, where he would watch the sunrise every day.

Jim is survived by his wife, Julia, children Elizabeth and James (Eileen), and grandchildren Molly Justice (Corey) and Jonathan, many nieces and nephews, and dear family friends.

A private memorial service will be held in October. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
