JAMES R. BAKER James R. Baker, 73, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013, in Sebring. He was born August 2, 1939, to William Austin and Ellen (Dotson) Baker in West Frankfort, Illinois, and had been a local resident since 2010, coming from Galatia, Illinois. He was a Senior Chief in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War and retiring after 20 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the VFW, American Legion and Masonic Lodge and was a Ham Radio Operator. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Baker of Sebring; daughter, Christine Baker, Harrisburg, IL; step-sons, Barry Holmes, Creal Springs, IL and Dustin Holmes, Box Elder, SD; sister, Mary Ellen Gammage, Galatia, IL; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice (Horner); son, Kirk Baker and three siblings, Dixie, Billy and Eileen. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Rd., Sebring, FL 33870.
