Rev. James B. Annis

Rev. James B. Annis, 80, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at his home. He was born July 24, 1932, to James John and Theatcher (Brantley) Annis in Linden, Florida, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1976, moving from West Africa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Peacetime and a member of Whispering Pines Baptist Church. He was a Minister, spending 15 years in Ghana as a missionary and church planter for the Southern Baptist Convention. He served several churches in the U.S., including the Whispering Pines Baptist Church, where he was a founding pastor. He served the Pasco Baptist Association as the Director of Missions and had also served as a Prison Chaplain and a volunteer Chaplain at Samaritan's Touch. He enjoyed fishing, sharing his faith and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Annis; sons, James, Jr. and wife Shirley; David and wife Dawn and Timothy and wife Sandy; daughter Lisa and husband Chris; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Ray. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Whispering Pines Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Trinkle officiating. The family will receive friends the hour preceding the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, immediately following the service.
