Jacqueline Gardner, age 74, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
She was born May 30, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois to Edward and Louise (Matthews) Wortham. Jacquie came from a strong family of faith and was baptized at an early age.
Jacquie was born into a family of eight siblings: Joe Henry, Lucy, Juanita, Evelyn, Emma, Michael (all preceded her in death) and Diane.
Jacquie graduated from Simeon High School and attended Chicago State University where she received her Masters Degree in Criminal Justice.
She worked at multiple jobs but had a long career as a Case Worker for the State of Illinois, Department of Human Services. With this job she moved from Chicago to Springfield, Illinois. Upon retiring, she relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jacquie was always an independent spirit and loved to travel. Sometimes she would travel with a group and sometimes she would travel on her own, never letting being a solo traveler hinder her. Her most favorite thing to do was cruise. She loved cruising and loved to introduce people to it.
She also loved board games, particularly those that would stimulate you mentally. Scrabble was a favorite game of hers. She was a fierce competitor and had her own Scrabble board and dog-eared dictionary.
She would attend Sebring Christian Church when visiting her daughter Ingrasherese and had recently moved to Sebring, Florida from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jacqueline is survived by her Daughter – Ingrasherese (‘Ingra’) Gardner of Sebring, Florida; Sister – Diane Bridges (Gary); and many nieces and nephews.
