Jack E. Deal, Sr.

May 28, 1931 — April 11, 2015

Jack E. Deal, Sr., age 83, went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2015. He died at Florida Hospital, Orlando due to complications following heart valve surgery. He was a resident of Sebring, FL, a part-time resident of North Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly resided in Uniontown, PA. Jack was born on May 28, 1931 in Uniontown, PA to his parents, the late Scott and Grace (Barnes) Deal. He graduated from South Union High School in 1949 and married Ruth Louise (Susie) Deal (nee Mack) in 1955. He served in the United States Army at Fort Monmouth, NJ during the Korean War. After completing his military service, Jack worked for Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania and later AT&T Information Systems. He retired from AT&T as a Business Systems Manager in 1985 with a combined 35 years of service. Jack was a 70-year member of Third Presbyterian Church in Uniontown, PA and an Associate Member of First Presbyterian Church of Sebring, FL. He belonged to the American Legion, AMVETS, VFW Men's Auxiliary, Loyal Order of Moose, Elks and was a Freemason. He was a founding member of the South Union Township Volunteer Fire Department in Uniontown, PA. Jack moved to Sebring in 2004 from Uniontown, PA. He enjoyed singing Karaoke at his favorite clubs around Sebring. He also enjoyed photography, Civil War history and the local history of Fayette County PA, and animals. He loved sports, having lettered in baseball during high school, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In addition to his wife of 59 years, Jack is survived by his daughter, Janet Deal of Hampstead, MD; his son and daughter-in-law Jack Jr. and Julia Deal of Bel Air, MD; his sister Eleanor Crago of Pittsburgh, PA and his two grandchildren, Kathryn (Deal) Miner and her husband Stuart of Decatur GA and Michael Deal and his wife Alise of Baltimore MD. Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church, 319 Poinsettia Avenue, Sebring FL, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jack's memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 319 Poinsettia Avenue, Sebring FL 33870.
