Irvin Neal Hunt

Irvin Hunt of Sebring, FL and formerly from Paducah, KY, died peacefully in his home after a lengthy illness on October 10, 2016. He was born on May 14, 1923 and married Jean Roach on March 24, 1946. Irvin and Jean recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Irvin is survived by his wife, Jean, and daughter, Alicia Pedroza and her husband Mike; four grandchildren, Teresa Talton (James), Joseph Pedroza (Katie), Michelle Davis (Bobby), and David Pedroza (Amity); six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank (Modell) Hunt and Jack (Faye) Hunt. Irvin was preceded in death by his son, Bill Hunt and parents, I.N. and Ruth Hunt, sisters, Nancy Buckingham and Betty Stewart and brother, Bobby Hunt. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was awarded the Bronze Star at the age of 21 for "contributing greatly to the installation and development of adjutant general's message center, Mail and Distribution Branch to a new headquarters in a superior manner". After returning to Paducah, he and his father owned Hunt Distributing Company, a wholesale liquor distributor, where he was until his retirement. He was very active in his church, Grace Episcopal, and in the community with many civic organizations. He served as chairman of the water board of Paducah Water Works and as a member of the board of directors, treasurer and president of Rolling Hills Country Club. He was conferred the honor of Duke of Paducah and Kentucky Colonel as the result of his charitable works. He and his wife moved to Sebring, FL in May of 1987 where he was again involved in his church, St. Agnes Episcopal Church and an active member of the Elks. He and his wife enjoyed several hobbies together including family camping trips when their children were young, golfing, bridge, and fishing, of which there are many fishing stories. He was a very loving and caring husband and father and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of loving and knowing him. There will be no services.
