Ilene Mary Byrd

Ilene Byrd, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, in Sebring, Florida, at the age of 72.

Ilene was born on December 3, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, the first child of Harry James Jr. and Julia Rita (Pashkow) Kick. Throughout her life, Ilene brought love, strength, and a lively spirit to those around her.

Ilene’s greatest accomplishment was raising her three sons, whom she loved dearly. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with her family. She also proudly served as a police officer during the years she lived in Texas.

In her free time, Ilene enjoyed raising her chickens, playing cards, and, of course, shopping. She had a special love for dogs and was fortunate to share her life with many beloved dogs over the years. These simple joys, along with the people and animals she loved, brought her much happiness.

Ilene was the beloved wife of Tom Byrd. Loving mother of her three sons: Ken Delane and his wife, Teresa; Scott Delane and his wife, Aliyssa; and Tim DeLane and his wife, Tammy. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Timothy and Emily.

She is also survived by her siblings: Harry J. (Linda) Kick II, Cindy (Jim) Gresock, Joe (Heidi) Kick, and Maryann (John) Copley; her step-son Andy and his wife, Lucy Byrd; step-granddaughter Brandy Byrd; and many nieces and nephews.

Ilene will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on through the family she devoted her life to, the many lives she touched, and the love she shared so freely.

Private family services were held.
