Hortense Lela Newsome, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Sebring, Florida. She was born in Wauchula, FL on May 29, 1932. Her parents were her mother, Lillian Agnes (Weed) Luehr and step-father, Emil Luehr. She was a supervisor in banking; a member of Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church; she loved to read and spend time with her grandchildren and was a resident of Sebring since 1945 coming from Wauchula. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Wayne) Slade, Lake Placid, FL; Leda Kay (Jim) Coleman, Cullman, AL; Kim Glarner, Sebring, FL; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Wayne Newsome, Sr.; son, Roger Wayne Newsome, Jr. and her parents, Emil W. and Lillian A. Luehr. Services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church with Rev. George Hall officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with services at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery, Sebring, FL. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Highlands County Humane Society, 7321, Haywood Taylor Blvd., Sebring, FL 33876.
