Herman J. DuBoice, age 92, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, in Sebring, Florida. Herman was born on August 9, 1932, in Wilkes-Barree, Pennsylvania to his loving parents Herman and Catherine DuBoice. Herman graduated from Tunkhannock High School in June of 1951. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served on active duty for eight years.  Upon his graduation from Boot Camp in Bainbridge, Maryland, Herman was assigned to the Destroyer U.S.S. Brownson (DD868) in his home port where he began his service in Newport, Rhode Island. He spent four years on active duty aboard the Brownson. He served a tour of duty in Korea, and visited many port of calls, stopping at these ports allowed him to see many parts of the world. After this Herman served four more years on reserve duty before being honorably discharged in 1960.

Herman has been a resident of Florida for sixty-four years, moving from Centermorland, Pennsylvania in August of 1960. He was employed for ten years at the I.H. Ford’s Chevrolet Motor Company, and twenty-three years as a corrections officer at Avon Park Correctional Institution, he then retired in December of 1993.

Herman coached little league baseball for fifteen years and played slow-pitch softball for twenty-five years. Herman was a sixty-three-year member and past Master of Poinciana Lodge #227 F+AM of Avon Park, Florida. He also enjoyed fishing with his late friend Virgil Tondee.

Herman is preceded in death by his parents; Herman A. and Catherine DuBoice, Wife; Beverly DuBoice, Brothers; Donald DuBoice, Jerry DuBoice, Allen DuBoice, Sister; Dorothy Watson, and In-laws; Cecil and Helen Dixon, Shirley Sechrist, and Dick Davin.

Herman is survived by his children; Dean DuBoice of Sebring, Florida, Dale (Vikki) DuBoice of Avon Park, Florida, Dwight (Katrina) DuBoice of Frostproof, Florida, Grandchildren; Dennis (Jill) Roberts, Brice DuBoice, Matthew (Elise) Coon, Haley DuBoice, Hannah Davis and Numerous nieces and nephews.

Herman loved his family, friends and his Masonic Brothers

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches Inc. In memory of Herman DuBoice.

Funeral services will be held on November 1, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with family receiving friends beginning at 10 A.M. at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park, Florida.
