Henry "Hank" Stewart Austin

Henry “Hank” Austin of Sebring, Florida passed away on Thursday March,13 2025 at the age of 82. He was born on October 18, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Leonard and Helen Austin. Hank obtained his PhD in 1986 from the University of Michigan and continued teaching computer science at Oakland Community College, as he had been for many years prior.  Throughout his career, Hank created and worked on a computer program called “SiDeCo”. He dedicated a large amount of time perfecting and mastering the program, which earned him the nickname “Doc. SiDeCo”.


When Hank wasn’t teaching or working on computer programs, you could find him swinging a club on the golf course, visiting family in Tennessee and Minneapolis, swimming, or cheering on his favorite sports team, The University of Michigan. In his younger years, he thoroughly enjoyed playing basketball in his free time.


Hank married his beautiful bride Bette in 1986, where they spent 38 wonderful years together. Despite his recent health struggles, Hank was a trooper. He never let his health get him down. He was always loving, caring, and fought tooth and nail through every challenge life threw at him.


Hank is survived by his loving wife Bette, His daughter Bonnie (Joe) Deconcini of Minnesota, daughter Jennifer Austin of Germany, his step daughter Dyani Berman of Michigan, and his granddaughter Ruby Deconcini of Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Helen Austin, as well as his late brother Dennis Austin.


Hank will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
