HELEN DORIS YOUNG Helen Doris Young, age 82, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 in Sebring, Florida. She was born in Sebring, FL on March 17, 1932 to Orlando and Monette (Crutchfield) Knowles. She was a legal secretary for one law firm, secretary to the Judge of the Circuit Court in the 12th Judicial District and retired from the Highlands County Sheriff's Office as the Sheriff's Personal Secretary. She was a lifelong resident of Highlands County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Avon Park; Member and Secretary of the Avon Park Historical Society; she enjoyed dancing especially the "Jitterbug"; she treasured the times she spent with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Robert D. Young, Jr., Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Teresa Joan Gallimore (Butch), Sebring, FL; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Young and her daughter, Debra Jean Stephens. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with Gregory Knowles officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 - 2:00 PM.
