Helen Anita Roman Viviano

July 23, 1917 — September 20, 2012

Helen Anita Roman Viviano, age 95 passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 in Avon Park, Florida. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 23, 1917 to George and Anna (Bongiovani) Roman. Her parents immigrated from Sicily to Pennsylvania where her father worked for the railroad. Helen married Peter Viviano in 1937 and moved with him to Tampa, Florida in the early 1950's where Peter established a pasta manufacturing plant. The Viviano's retired in Charlotte, North Carolina where Helen taught fine art and where her art work hangs in museums and homes in the area. In 1991 she and her husband moved to Avon Park, Florida. She continued to paint and do art restoration work, which was a lifetime activity, until her death. Mrs. Viviano was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter-Justine Devlin (Paul) of Avon Park, Florida; son-Samuel Viviano of Memphis, Tennessee; sisters-Elvira Muraco and Josephine Zampini both of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; 5 grandchildren-Chris Devlin (Valerie), Michele Heston (Terry), Tim Devlin (Robin), Charles Devlin (Stephanie) and Helen Sourini (Chris); 11 great grandchildren-Christopher, John Paul, Charles, Mary Rose, Matt, Justine, Mark, Teresa, Paul, Anna and Grace; 3 great great grandchildren-Sophia Rose, Amelia Claire and Christopher Paul. Mrs. Viviano was preceded in death by her husband-Peter Viviano. Visitation will be held Friday, September 21, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. (with rosary service beginning at 5p.m.) at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Nick McLoughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Bougainvillea Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1643, Avon Park, Florida 33826.
