Hazel Jeanette Ellis née Stipes, aged 85, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025 at the Bud and Donna Somers Hospice House in Sebring, Florida. She was born on October 23, 1939 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Floyd and Maude Stipes. She married JW Ellis on April 27, 1959 and moved to Sebring, FL in 1972. She and JW were founding and active members of Calvary Church in Sebring, and she worked as a deli manager and florist until her retirement in 2005. Hazel’s generosity and joyful spirit left lasting impressions on everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband JW (2003), her son Jack Edward Ellis (2019), her parents, and her siblings. Hazel is survived by her grandson, Christopher Michael Ellis, of New York, New York, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives she deeply touched.

A memorial service celebrating Hazel’s remarkable life will be held at Calvary Church, 1825 Hammock Rd in Sebring, on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Calvary Church or Bok Tower Garden, two places dear to her heart. Hazel's ashes will be scattered alongside those of her husband and son near Chilhowee Lake in Tennessee, in accordance with her wishes.
