Hazel P. Curry was born in Washington, DC on December 25, 1938, the daughter of George S. and Viola (Franklin) Pomeroy. She passed away on September 26, 2023, in Sebring, at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Floyd W. Curry, and a brother – Donnell F. Pomeroy. Hazel was a Southern Baptist and has been a resident of Sebring since 1983, having come from Miami, Florida. She enjoyed cross stitching, and she was an avid reader. She devoted her life to the care of children and volunteered for 17 years for the Diabetes Education Center. She loved the color purple, Nascar racing, and college football. Hazel is survived by a son, James S. Curry of Pensacola; a daughter – Annette C. Adams (Wayne) of Pembroke Pines; step-daughters – Mariann Jensen of Newberry; Susan Szwanke (Joe) of Gainesville; step- grandsons – Chris Szwanke of Tamarac; JJ Szwanke of Gainesville; brother – G. Stanley Pomeroy (Bonita) of Cerro Gordo, NC. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the Avon Park Seventh-day Adventist Church.
