HAROLD EUGENE BATES Harold Eugene Bates, 80, of Lake Placid, Florida, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012, in Lake Placid. He was born February 29, 1932, to Clarence and Ruby (Cronk) Bates in Effingham, Illinois, and had been a resident of Florida since 2007, moving from St. Charles. He was a Mail Carrier with the U.S. Postal Service; a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion and VFW. He is survived by his daughters, Laurie Priester (John Danner), Lorida, FL; Linda (Mike) Schwab, Marco Island, FL and Lisa (Jeff) Garbe, Lagrange Park, Ill; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his wife, Dorothy Marianna Einoris Bates. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Activity Department at Lake Placid Health Care Center, 125 Tomoka Blvd., So., Lake Placid, FL 33852.
