Harlen Blackburn, age 72 passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 in Sebring, Florida. He was born in Heenon, Kentucky to Benjamin and Lucy (Maynard) Blackburn. Mr. Blackburn was a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 24 years of service. He also worked for the Avon Park Bombing Range in Civil Service and he worked as a Security Guard for Florida Hospital in Sebring. He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting and spending time with his family and friends, he had been a resident of Avon Park since 1979 coming from Panama Canal. He is survived by his wife of 51 years-Lois L. Blackburn of Avon Park, Florida; children-Steven Blackburn (Melissa) of Decatur, Georgia and Sharon Hughes (Jim) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother-Malta Blackburn (Hattie) of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren-Jarrett and Jessica Hughes and Wesley, Catie and William Blackburn and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters-Lula Bell,Ivory, Madie, Ersie and 4 brothers-Trollie, Jobie, Pem and Flem. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
