Gwen Longnecker

Gwen Longnecker Gwen Longnecker, age 86, passed away on April 20, 2014, in Sebring Florida. She was born on December 21, 1927, in Indian Head Pennsylvania, to the late Jacob R. and Gertrude K. (Miller) Whetsel. She had been a resident of Sebring since 1980, coming from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. Gwen was a member of Whispering Pines Baptist Church where she loved to serve The Lord. She enjoyed reading. She is survived by her husband-Garmon W. Longnecker; children-Bernerd Showman (Cynthia) of South Carolina; Beverly Plunkett (Layne) of North Carolina; step-children Garmon Longnecker, Jr. (Belinda), Claire Torkish (Ken) all of Pennsylvania, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters-Fern Walker and Alverda Davis. There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, 11:00am, at Whispering Pines Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Trinkle officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
