Gwanna C. Matthews Holtzclaw passed April 6, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on November 26, 1925 to Lucian and Molly Matthews in Whitman, West Virginia. She graduated from Logan High School in 1944. She worked for Bell Telephone Company in California for a short time. She returned to Logan and married. She raised four children and was the best mother you could ever have. She moved to Indiana in 1954 continued to be a loving mother and homemaker. She moved to Avon Park in 1971 to help her parents and sisters as a caregiver. She also worked for the Stop & Shop corp. Later in 1972 she went to work at Walker Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1991. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucian Matthews, Molly and Bill Lucas, two sisters, Blanch Lucas and Sandra (Lucas) Peregrin, brothers, Samuel and Eugene, two nephews and her niece and her daughter Patricia A. Holtzclaw. She is survived by her sister, Wanda Jean McKinney of Lake Placid, Her children, Michael Capua, Samuel Lee Capua and Linda Nealis (Mark). She leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, two nieces and two great nieces and 1 great nephew. She was under the care of Good Shepherd Hospice. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with Chaplain Harry Bennett officiating.
