Guy L. Stebbins

Guy L. Stebbins, 91, of Sebring, Florida, went to be with his Lord on March 29, 2013. He was born April 9, 1921, to Clyde L. and Hattie (Prindle) Stebbins, in Jamestown, New York, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1986, coming from Sherman, New York. He was a dairy farmer and a Pioneer Seed Company Sales Representative. He was a member of Edwards Chapel United Methodist Church in Clymer, NY, where he was the oldest living member. He joined Edwards Chapel in 1935 at the age of 14 and remained a member for the next 78 years. A devoted Christian and church member, he had served as a Deacon, a member of the United Methodist Men's Prayer Breakfast and enjoyed the music of the church, having sung in a quartet and in the choir. He attended Grace Church of Sebring and enjoyed attending the Senior Center on Sebring Parkway. He is survived by his wife, Opal Hickman-Stebbins, who he married on May 15, 2010; daughter, Joanna (Gordon) Dahlbeck, Lakewood, NY; sister, Norma Hewes, Mayville, NY; granddaughters, Sherry Mettlen and Rhonda Johnson and great-grandchildren, Brandi and Brandon. He was predeceased by his first wife of 66 years, Helen Wolf Stebbins and sons, Bruce and John Stebbins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, with Pastor Randy Smith officiating. The family will receive friends preceding the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Sherman Cemetery in Sherman, New York and a Memorial Service will be held in Sherman at a later date.
