Gordon "Gordy" Fredrick Sehl, age 61 of Sebring, FL, suddenly passed away March 22, 2025. He was born in Great Lakes, IL to the late Charles and Elsie Sehl. In 1993 he married Beth Weiler in the backyard of their Wadsworth home and later retired to Sebring, FL.
Gordy graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and became a CPA in 1985. In addition to accounting, he was a computer software consultant. Gordy was never confined to a single trade—he had the rare ability to transition seamlessly from white-collar precision to blue-collar craftsmanship, restoring homes throughout northern Illinois with skill and dedication.
A man of deep generosity, Gordy was always willing to help others before tending to his own projects. His gift for making friends was effortless—he never met a stranger, and he took great care to remember the names of those he encountered. Gordy’s love of life, brilliant mind and charismatic sense of life shone through and made it easy to be his friend.
He always enjoyed playing any kind of games and any competition with a playful attitude. Whether it was a 300 at bowling, a hole in one and an albatross (double eagle) in golf or many racquetball tournament wins, he just would always say “it was very entertaining”. His main passion was the need for speed. Gordy looked forward to being with his brothers and friends to watch the 12 hours of Sebring and especially loved driving his Z06 Corvette “fast” on the same track.
Golf Hammock Country Club was his golf haven. With his faithful dog, Josie, by his side, he relished every moment spent walking to the clubhouse, greeting familiar faces especially with his friend Cody, and embracing the camaraderie of the game he loved.
He is survived by his wife Beth Weiler, two brothers, Stuart and Louis (Pat), sister-in-law Carole Weiler (Rod), and preceded in death by his sister Victoria Gratz. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all who have offered their prayers, support, and kindness during this difficult time. Your presence, words of comfort, and thoughtful gestures have brought solace and strength to our hearts. We are especially thankful for the meals and acts of kindness that have eased the burden of our loss.
