Gordon Hampton "Hamp" Gammage

November 27, 1936 — February 19, 2020

Gordon Hampton “Hamp” Gammage, age 83, passed away on February 19, 2020 after a brief illness.  He was born in Arcadia Florida to Leland G. and Laura Josephine Hampton Gammage.  He was of Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Arcadia for many years.

Hamp and his wife, Janet have resided in Lake Placid, FL since the early 1980’s.  Hamp worked for Florida Power & Light Company starting out as a helper and concluding his career as a Supervisor in the Punta Gorda office.   He was also a cattleman and loved his cows.  He and his dear friends Kayo Welles and Charles Harman had a ranch in Highlands County, Florida in the early 70’s where they had a cow/calf operation.  Hamp had been a member and former President of the Arcadia All Florida Championship Rodeo Association, a former member of the Lyons Club in Donaldsonville, GA, he loved hunting, fishing and traveling with his beloved wife, Janet.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janet of Lake Placid, his children, Gordon Bryan Gammage (Paula) of Alabama, Jonell Gammage Johns (William), of Quincy, FL, and Patrick Duncan Gammage (Renee) of Arcadia, FL.  Two grandchildren, Ryan Aldridge, and Katie Gammage.  One brother, Dunc Gammage (Maylou) of Marianna, FL.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
