Gloria E. Tondee

Gloria E. Tondee, age 87, of Avon Park, FL, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024. She was born May 19,1937 in Walnut Hill, FL to James Marshall and Lois E. (Zitterow) Davis. After graduation from Avon Park High School in 1955, Gloria obtained an AA Degree from Jones College in Orlando, FL.  In 1960, she married Virgil L. Tondee, Jr. and they were married for 59 years. She worked as a Medical Records Clerk starting out at Walker Memorial Hospital & retiring from Florida Hospital. She was a long-time past member of First Baptist Church of Avon Park where she sang in the choir, active in the WMU, and served as a youth Sunday School officer, current member of Union Church in Avon Park, member of the Service Sorority BETA SIGMA PHI, and had been a lifelong resident of Avon Park, FL.  Gloria is survived by her Son- Dennis Tondee of Avon Park, FL; Daughter - Dena Turnbull (Robert) of Roswell, GA; Grandchildren, Davis Turnbull, Ashlyn Barrett (Jason), Addison Turnbull, Brother – James L. Davis of Lafayette Hill, PA, Sister-in-law, Trish Davis of Jacksonville, FL, Sister-in-law, Pat Woodyard (Owen) of Sarasota, FL and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.  Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her Husband- Virgil L. Tondee, Jr. and Brother -M. Rene Davis.  A Memorial Service will be held at Union Church, Avon Park, FL on Friday, June 28th, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 9:30 am.  She will be laid to rest in Bougainvillea Cemetery.
