Glen T. Shevel, 78, of Avon Park, Florida passed away, Friday, October 16, 2009. He was born June 18, 1931 to Clyde and Ruth (Webb) Shevel in Warren, Ohio. He had been a resident of Avon Park since 1997 coming from Canfield, Ohio. He worked as a System Dispatcher for Ohio Edison in Youngstown, Ohio, was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1951-1955 and was a member of Crossroads Community Church. He was also a member of chapter 53 of the Good Sam Club in Ohio and a member of the Ruritan Club for 15 years in Greenford, Ohio. He was very active over the years with many churches taking part as choir member, Elder, Usher, Greeter and participating in the Pleasant Timers, cornerstones, and Keenagers. He loved photography, was an avid outdoorsman and his latest passion was his pontoon boat. He is survived by his wife of 56 years-Helen L. Shevel of Avon Park, Florida; daughters-Glenda Lissimore of Bel Air, Maryland, Deborah Kowal of Middlefield, Ohio, Ruthie Loar (William) of Canfield, Ohio; sons-David Shevel (Linda) of Boardman, Ohio, Tim Shevel (Kathy) of New Springfield, Ohio; sister-Charlotte Ventling of Lakeland, Florida; brothers-Marvin Shevel of West Farmington, Ohio, Don Shevel of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Wesley Shevel. Funeral services: Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home with Pastor John Dumas officiating.
