Gladys Mae Cox

Gladys Mae Cox, age 79, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Sebring, Florida. She was born on June 18, 1935 in Fort Payne, Alabama to the late Vanuel and Freda (Stockman) Fortner. Gladys had been a resident of Avon Park since 1954 having come from Deklab County, Alabama. She was of the Baptist faith and loved gardening, reading, and fishing. She was once an excellent seamstress. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family. Gladys is survived by her children: Sharon Kennen (Tom) of Monroe, LA; Diane Moree (Glen) of Sebring, FL; Debroa Cox (Robin Jordan) of Sorrento, FL; Delories Miranda (Billy) of St. Cloud, FL; Bert Cox of Sebring, FL; sisters: Juanita Roper of Chattanooga, TN, Virginia Harvey of Avon Park, FL; eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Gladys was predeceased by her husband: Bud Cox; two brothers, and three sisters. A visitation for family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park.
