GILBERT D. BENNETT Gilbert D. Bennett, age 65, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013 in Sebring, Florida. He was born on July 28, 1948 in Hialeah, Florida to Walter and Nevada (McQuaid) Bennett. He was the owner of Bennett Pools in Ft. Lauderdale and latterly was employed by Walmart of Sebring. Gil, as he liked to be known, loved bowling, dancing, football and bingo, and was President of Sebring Hills Association from 2007-2010. He had been a resident of Sebring since 2006, coming from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Gil was a paratrooper with the 101st Division Airborne, served time in Vietnam, and had two Purple Hearts. He is survived by his fiancée and loving partner, Jean Webster; Mother and Step-father, Neva Frederick and Finn Frederick of Sebring Hills; Daughter and Son-in-Law, Andrea and Jason Goodstein; Grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Alexander Goodstein, of Pembroke Pines, Florida; four sisters, Sharon and Bob Young, Pat and Gerry Ford, Linda and Deana; nieces, Shelley, Crissy, Wendy, Kim, Jenny, Sarah and Bethany and one nephew John Young, all of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Bennett. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ted Moore officiating.
