Geraldine Mae Kennedy, 82, passed away peacefully from complications of dementia on Sunday morning February 12, 2012. She was a resident of Fairway Pines Assisted Living Facility in Sebring, Florida. Gerry was the oldest daughter of Lamoine and Elizabeth Seitters of Akron, Ohio, where she was born and raised. She later lived in Iowa, Venezuela and Cuba before moving back to Akron. Gerry moved to Homestead, Florida in 1983 with her husband Don and then moved to Sebring in 2000 where she spent the last years of her life. Gerry is survived by her loving husband Donald Kennedy of Sebring FL, who was her primary caregiver until she moved into an assisted facility in June of 2011. Other family members that survive her are daughter Janet Parker and husband Tim of Williamsburg, VA, her sons David McAlonan and wife Wendi of Anticoh, IL and Kevin McAlonan and wife Jeannie of Phoenix, AZ. She leaves a legacy of five grandchildren: Elisa Dannemiller of Denver, CO, Evan Dannemiller of Los Angeles, CA, Ruth McAlonan Keller and her husband Zachery of Columbus, Ohio, Scott McAlonan of Antioch, IL and Jen Boomsma McAlonan of Phoenix, AZ. Her sister Patricia Myers Seitters of Scottsdale, AZ and cousins Ed and Harry Kaylor of North Carolina and California respectively survive her as well as her husbands four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Isabella, her beloved Pomeranian dog was always a faithful companion the past seven years. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Gerry was an avid golfer, sailor and gardener. She acted in the local community theatres, loved to travel, speak Spanish and spend time with her children and grandchildren. Gerry was active in the High Street Christian Church in Akron, Ohio, the Homestead Christian Church in Homestead, Florida, and until recently the Church of Christ of Sebring. A private family memorial service will be held at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, February15.
