George Scott Rider

George Scott Rider, age 71, of Sebring Fl was born on august 1, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married Stephanie Plesmevich Rider for 46 years, and together they made their home in Sebring for the past 20 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Stephanie Rider; his sisters, Linda Jane Seaman and Pamela Jean Champion; and his half-sisters, Debbie Wolfe, Margaret Nielsen, Amy Martin, Mary Rider, and Kimberly Wilson. He is also survived by his stepbrothers, William Haladay and Albert J. Haladay Jr. George was preceded in death by his mother, Jane George Haladay; his father, Donald Paul Rider; his brother, Donald Paul Rider, Jr.; and his stepbrother, David Haladay. Those who knew George well will remember his love of humor-He especially enjoyed telling jokes and bringing laughter to those around him. He served in the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1973 and was faithful attendee of Highlands Community Church in Sebring, where he was deeply loved by the congregation. George had a caring heart and was always willing to help his neighbors and friends whenever he could. At a young age, George came to understand that gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, as shared with him by his grandmother, rooted in John 3:16. We take comfort in knowing that George had a personal relationship with Him. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:8, “Absent from the body present with the Lord. “In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Highlands Community Church in George’s honor, to support their homeless ministry and men’s ministry-both of which were close to his heart. A Memorial service will be held May 8th at 11 am at the Highlands Community Church 3005 New Life Way Sebring, Fl 33870.
