George J. Reisert, of Frostproof, FL and Danbury, CT entered eternal life on his 80th birthday, Tuesday, February 21, 2017. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by family. He was born in Far Rockaway, NY on February 21, 1937 to the late Raymond and Kathryn (Conniff) Reisert. George grew up on Long Island, NY and graduated from Lawrence High School. A Navy veteran, he proudly served his country as a plank owner on the USS Saratoga CVA 60. Subsequently George was an air traffic controller with the FAA and the owner-operator of GRS services. He married the love of his life, Kathy, in 1958. They moved to Danbury where they raised their five wonderful children. George and Kathy began their traveling adventures in 1994, visiting all but four of the United States. They settled into their RV lot in Lily Lake Golf Resort in 2005, where they spent winters. They traveled back to Connecticut in their RV every summer to celebrate birthdays, baptisms, graduations and enjoy all kinds of family gatherings with their cherished children, grandchildren, extended family and friends that became family over the years. Faith and family were George's foundation in life and his greatest legacy. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Avon Park. George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen M. (Smith) Reisert, his 5 children: daughter Virginia Gorman (Patrick) of Newtown, CT and sons Robert (Katherine) of Danbury, CT, Daniel (Mary) of Danbury, Edward (Barry Nelson) of Brooklyn, NY and Donald (Marci) of Danbury and his 11 grandchildren, of whom he was so proud: Kevin and Maggie Gorman and Rebecca, Michael, Ryan, Alison, Danielle, Nicole, Julia, Keira and Jason Reisert. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond (Mary Catherine) Reisert of Kitty Hawk, NC. A visitation for Mr. Reisert will be at Stephenson Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park, Florida On February 24, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM and the funeral service will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Avon Park, Florida at 11:00 AM
