George Grove Radcliffe age 100, peacefully passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, in Sebring, Florida with his wife by his side.

George had a career of over forty years with the Baltimore Life Insurance Company, concluding with fifteen years as CEO. Through business activities he became friends with a number of CEO’s around the country, a few of whom became life long friends.

He had one daughter, Cynthia, husband John White.  He had two grandchildren, Kevin (Virginia) and Robyn, and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Emily.

Thirty-three years ago he married Kathleen Bowman Moore and moved from Baltimore to Oxford, Maryland where they spent almost twenty-seven years. They moved to Sebring, Florida full time in 2018. He enjoyed his stepchildren, Shari Smith Ochse (Steve), daughter Isabel, and John Thomas Ragone children, Samantha (Chris), Tara, Jack and Paul and six great-grandchildren.

His activities outside of Baltimore Life included board positions with MNB, BG&E, EA Engineering and the Baltimore Equitable Society along with non-profits including Community Colleges of Baltimore County, chairman 1971-73.

George graduated with a BA degree in 1947 from Johns Hopkins University following his service in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. Hopkins continued to be the focal point of many years continuing until his passing. He became a trustee in 1975 and was Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1984–1990.

For relaxation he sailed and raced several sailboats named Touche’ on the Chesapeake Bay mostly under the Gibson Island Yacht Squadron burgee with family and friends while also enjoying skiing and tennis. He later joined the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford while he and Kathy cruised the Chesapeake Bay and became a dedicated golfer as a member of the Talbot Country Club continuing after his move to Sebring, Florida.

He will be deeply missed.

A family celebration of George’s life will be held in Oxford, Maryland in late spring and his remains will be interred in the columbarium at the Church of the Holy Trinity.
