George Y. Murphy, age 86, of Avon Park, Florida, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026. He was born January 13, 1940 in Thomasville, Georgia to James Albert and Irma (White) Murphy. George was an Electrical Salesman, member of Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church, and has been a resident of Avon Park, Florida since 1973, coming from Georgia. He is survived by his Wife – Brunelle Murphy of Avon Park, FL; Children – Julian Derek Murphy (Patricia) of Georgia; Jeffrey Murphy (Pam) of Avon Park, FL; Gary Randall Murphy of Thomasville, GA; Gregory Kendell Murphy (Angela) of Thomasville, GA; Teresa Ann Strickland (Glenn) of Virginia; Donald Lee Bentley of Land O Lakes, FL; Candice Lynn Ciesla (Art) of Avon Park, FL; Brother – Jerry Murphy of Thomasville, GA; 13 Grandchildren; Numerous Great Grandchildren; a few Great Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM with family receiving friends beginning at 10:00 AM at Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church with burial following in Bougainvillea Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church.
