George E. Holden, 89, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, in Sebring. He was born April 24, 1923, to George C. and Goldie Fane (Smith) Holden, in Bristow, Oklahoma, and had been a resident of Florida since 1979, coming from Oklahoma City, and moving to Sebring in 1983. He was employed in civil service as Supervisor of Supply Depot at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was an avid fisherman, woodworker and genealogist. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Holden of Sebring; daughters, Debra A. Garoutte, Choctaw, OK; Debra (Steve) Barth, Round Lake Beach, IL and Donna (Bob) Lorch, Hoffman Estates, IL; son - Dennis (Mary) Howland, Freemont, NH; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ada and his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, with W. Mike Adams officiating. The family will receive friends the hour preceding the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Hospice group of choice.
