George Roger Dunham

GEORGE R. DUNHAM George R. Dunham, 91, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Friday, July 9, 2010, in Sebring. He was born August 11, 1918, to Herbert and Jennie (Dunn) Dunham in Dunellen, New Jersey, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1951, coming from Dunellen. He was a cable repairman supervisor in the telephone industry and was of the Christian faith, active in church. He was a B-17 pilot with the 94th Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force during World War II, flying 35 missions over Germany and was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and other air medals. A former member of the VFW, he enjoyed racing cars and motorcycles; loved boating and camping and was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Roger W. (Laura) Dunham, Coconut Creek, FL; daughter, Ruth L. (Todd) Porter, Coral Springs, FL; brother, Skip (Sandy) Dunham, North Carolina; grandchildren, Chad Dunham, Craig Dunham and Traci Porter and great-grandsons, William and David Dunham. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruth. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, Pastor W. Mike Adams officiating. The family will receive friends the hour preceding the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Entombment, with Military Honors, will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL, immediately following the service.
