Gary Arthur Buchanan

Gary Arthur Buchanan, age 84, passed away on December 18, 2024, in Sebring, Florida. Born on February 4, 1940, in Mansfield, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late George and Ruth Buchanan. He was married to the love of his life, Carol Ona Buchanan, for sixty-three years.

Gary is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Carol Ona Buchanan. His children, Carol Lynn Wright (Bruce) of Dunnellon, FL, and Colleen Marie Campbell of Shelbyville, IN. He was a cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren: Jessica Risner (significant other, Harold Blanton),  Thomas Kinstle, Jared Andreasson (Cassandra), Lauren Janowak (Christopher), Brandy Bazemore (Thomas), Norry Shauck, and Megan Coffey. He was also the cherished great-grandfather of  twelve, Liam Andreasson, Colton Risner, Noah Kinstle, Noah Andreasson, Callie Risner, Alexander Bazemore, Nathanael Bazemore, Scarlet Kinstle, Isla Andreasson, Audrey Janowak, Patrick Bazemore and Calvin Kinstle.

Gary and Carol resided in the Shiloh, Ohio area. During the winter, they resided in Sebring, FL. They were snowbirds for over twenty one years.  They built a life filled with love and community. They made many lifelong friends in both Ohio and Florida. A proud veteran, Gary served his country in the United States Army and was a  part of the US Army Engineers. He later dedicated his career to the steel industry, working as a skilled and respected machinist.

Gary’s character was a reflection of his values; talented, patient, hardworking, and faithful. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. An avid outdoorsman, Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and traveling. He was a longstanding member of the Masonic Lodge and an active member in target shooting clubs in both Florida and Ohio.

Gary will be remembered as a man of strength and kindness, whose love for his family and dedication to his community left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
