Frederick Bruno, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in Avon Park, Florida surrounded by loving friends. He was born on July 13, 1944 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late: Alfred and Philomena (Cirella) Bruno. Frederick had been a winter resident of Avon Park since 1978, coming from Rhode Island. He served in the U.S. National Guard during Vietnam and is of the Catholic faith. Frederick discovered his love of golf at age 8 when he began playing and caddying. He developed into an accomplished and renowned PGA Golf Professional who touched the lives of many as he mentored and taught golfers such as: Brad Faxon, Brett Quigley, and Billy Andrade. Frederick was named the New England PGA Teacher of the Year in 1986. He was a distinguished member and past President of the Pinecrest Golf Club. Frederick is survived by his sister: Carolyn (John) Najmowicz of Johnston, RI. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park. A funeral mass and burial will take place at a later date in Rhode Island.
