Fred Eriksen, 81, of Florida, passed away on February 19, 2025. Born in Germany on March 12, 1943, Fred’s life was a journey across continents, shaped by adventure, dedication, and a deep love for family.
As a child, Fred traveled from Germany to the United States, stopping and living in several countries along the way, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong passion for travel. His career as a mechanical engineer took him around the world, and in 1991, he settled in Florida after living in Ecuador. In addition to his engineering work, he was the proud owner and operator of Eriksen Automotive Recycle.
Fred was a devoted husband to Maria del Pilar Eriksen, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. They met in South America, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and adventure. He was a beloved father to his two sons, John David Eriksen of Gainesville, FL, and Sebastian Eriksen of Sebring, FL.
Fred loved people, and people loved him. His warmth, kindness, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A man of many interests, Fred enjoyed playing acoustic guitar, building model boats and airplanes, and staying active through jogging, tennis, and cycling—often riding as much as 50 miles in a day around town. He was known for his remarkable craftsmanship and ability to fix just about anything.
Fred was a faithful member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, where his service and devotion to his faith were a guiding force in his life.
Fred’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, as they cherish the moments they shared with him and the love he so generously gave.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine Catholic Church on Saturday, March 8,2025 at 12:00 PM, with Father José González officiating.
