Franklin R. Schaeffer

Franklin Robert “Bob” Schaeffer, Jr. passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on December 19, 2025, in Sebring, Florida, at the age of 93.

Bob was born on November 13, 1932, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, to Franklin Robert Schaeffer, Sr. and Dorothy Emerick Schaeffer. He was raised in Pennsylvania alongside his siblings and carried a lifelong appreciation for family.

Bob shared 73 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Margaret (“Skip”) Schaeffer. Together, they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and commitment. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Rochelle Ryan (Shawn) and Rhonda Moore (Gerard), who continue to honor his legacy.

He was a proud grandfather to Robert Roehr (Kristina), Jason Reimer, Esq. (Jessica), Kenneth Roehr (Colleen), and Jaimie Lynne Schoenleber (William) and embraced his adopted grandchildren, Mia Anne, Thomas, and Grace Moore. In addition, Bob took great joy and pride in his five great-grandchildren, Bryn, Gavin, Lillian, Peyton, and Ellie.

Bob is survived by his sister, Elaine Schaeffer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, John and Kenneth Schaeffer.

Bob proudly served in the United States military from 1952 to 1955, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant Commander. During his service, he led a tank division stationed along the Russian border, a role that reflected his leadership, discipline, and dedication to his country.

Following his military service, Bob dedicated many years of his professional career to Remington Products Company, where he began his career in 1958 in their store on Walnut Street in Philadelphia. He retired in 1992 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Remington. A highlight of his career included presenting President Jimmy Carter, President Ronald Reagan, President George H.W. Bush and the Air Force One flight crew with one-of-a-kind Remington electric shavers custom-made specifically for them; an honor that reflected both his professionalism and the esteem in which he was held. Bob traveled extensively in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Bob and Skip moved to Sun N Lake in Sebring, Florida, in 1996, where they spent their retirement years. Both were enthusiastic golfers and became active participants at the Sun N Lake Golf Club, often enjoying rounds of golf with friends and cherishing both the game and the camaraderie. Bob was dedicated to community service, serving several years on the Board of Supervisors for Sun ’n Lake. His passion for golf also led him to start and manage a snack shack, which later grew into his position as manager of the golf course’s beverage services; a role he fulfilled for over 14 years. For over 12 years, he also helped one of his grandchildren start and manage a winery, brewery, and entertainment venue.

In addition to his commitment to family and community, Bob found satisfaction in volunteering and cherished the time he spent playing golf. Together with Skip, Bob won the competition to name both courses -Turtle Run and Deer Run - which were officially announced at the grand opening on October 1, 1999.

Bob’s life was defined by enduring love for his family, steadfast service to his country, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

A funeral service with full military honors will be held on January 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, Pennsylvania.
