Florence “Flo” Cooper passed away October 11, 2017 at her home in Sebring, Florida. Flo was born on March 3, 1947 to the late T. Harold and Josephine (Joyner) Hackney in Clearwater, Florida. Flo had been a resident of Highlands County since 1976 moving from Lakeland, Florida. She was a Professional Guardian, had served both Sebring and Avon Park as a police officer, was the first President of Highlands County Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. Flo was a member of the St. Agnes Episcopal Church where she had served numerous times on the Vestry Committee. She was the Co-Owner of Cooper and Son Transmission Repair. As a teenager she was a Ballerina in Clearwater. She loved sewing and embroidering. However, above everything else, Flo was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family with all of her heart. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Survived by her husband: Charles P. Cooper – Sebring; her children: Charles A. Cooper (Judy) – Sebring; Denese Batz (Brad) – Sebring; Mark A. Cooper (Kim) – Winter Haven; Ronald R. Harris, Jr. (Renee) – Richmond, VA; Douglas H. Harris (Timothy) – Juneau, AK; Michael Todd Harris (Jackie) – Sebring. Brother: Tom Hackney (Sue) – Batesville, AR. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the St. Agnes Episcopal Church, 3840 NW Lakeview Drive, Sebring, Florida at 11:00 a.m. with Father Scott Walker officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, Florida 33870.
