FAYE J. COLVIN After 99 years of a life filled with family and friends who cherished her and were thankful for her loving devotion, Faye (Johnson) Colvin, born March 26,1918, in Sinclairville, NY died peacefully at her Fairway Pines home in Sebring, Florida on April 7, 2017. She was the daughter of Clarence and Mildred Johnson and the last surviving member of the Sinclairville High School graduating class of 1936. Faye graduated from Jamestown Business College and worked for 30 years in the high school office at Pine Valley Central School, retiring in 1983. During her employment Faye was involved with local committees of the CSEA and taught adult education classes. As an active member of the Cherry Creek United Methodist Church, she served on administrative committees and also enjoyed baking pies for the church's swiss steak dinners. Faye also attended local and state conferences in her role as clerk for the village of Cherry Creek. Faye's home reflected her many interests and skills and was filled with antiques she refinished and ceramics she created. Each grandchild was gifted a crocheted afghan and for her daughters her hands sewed prom dresses and a wedding gown. Her grandchildren remember eating berries and vegetables from her garden. In later years although afflicted with the loss of her vision, she continued her avid interest in reading by listening to books on tape. Always wanting to live in Florida, Faye moved to Avon Park 26 years ago and spent many happy years on Lake Anoka amid the orange trees that she and her husband planted. Her keen mind, intense interest in politics and current events, and devotion to her family never faltered even as she neared 100. Until her very last days, she continued to debate politics and actively follow the lives and achievements of her family - from children to great grandchildren - with great love and enthusiasm. Those who mourn her passing are daughters Brenda Colvin Haase (William) of Wappingers Falls, NY and Gwen Colvin Larson (Lyle) of Bemus Point, NY; daughter-in-law Norma Colvin of Stow, NY; and stepchildren Nancy Colvin Dinsmore (Lew) of Tampa, FL and Samuel Colvin (Emily) of Ankeny, IA. Known as Grandma,'Geema', and GeeGee, she was cherished by granddaughter Michelle Colvin Foster (husband Richard and children Alexandra, Morgan and Zachary) of Orlando, Fl. and grandsons Todd Larson (wife Sarah and children Eliza and Charles) of Montclair, NJ; William Haase of Intercession City, Fl (his children Tyler, Yazmizel, and Lucas and their mother Juana Haase) of Kissimmee, FL; Bretton Haase (wife Lisa and daughters Carlie and Lauren) of Gansevoort, NY; Eric Larson (wife Tina and children Anika, Signe Faye, and Piper) of Severna Park, MD. Faye is also survived by her neighbor Mary Story who Faye regarded as her Special Angel. Others survivors include niece Nancy Johnson Johnsen (Ralph) and nephew Robert Johnson (Donna). Surviving sisters-in-law include Mabel Riforgiat (George), June Davis, Phyllis Schuster {David), and brother-in-law James Colvin(Joann). Faye was proceeded in death by husband Herbert (1984), husband Paul (2008), and her brother Beryl Johnson. The death of her grandson Lance Colvin (1994) and her beloved son Charles (2003) were losses Faye mourned until her death. A memorial service in NY is planned for this summer.
