Ethel Marie King

August 17, 1936 — July 1, 2026

Avon Park

Born on August 17, 1936, in Worthington, Pennsylvania, Ethel was the daughter of the late Roy and Alice Yockey. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1954 and went on to graduate from Bible College in 1956. On June 15, 1956, she married the love of her life, Duane King. Together they faithfully served the Lord throughout Dr. King's ministry in the five pastorates he held. Ethel was a devoted partner in ministry, serving as church secretary, regularly teaching children's church, singing duets with her husband, participating in the church choir and other musical groups, and joyfully playing the piano whenever needed. Her unwavering faith, servant's heart, and love for the church touched the lives of many. Ethel is survived by her son, Fredd King of Avon Park, Florida; three grandchildren; her brother, Russell (Joan) Yockey of Butler, Pennsylvania; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Duane King, and her sisters, Betty Knappenberger, Delores Plastow and Helen Wilson. Ethel's life was a testimony of faithful service, love for her family, and devotion to her Savior. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family rejoices in the assurance that she is now at home with the Lord.
