Ethel Lovett Hodge of Winter Haven, Florida, left for her eternal home on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Born in Dillon, S.C. on January 9, 1935, to George and Leola Lovett. She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. Hodge cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved Jesus and she always shared her love for him, just to save one soul. She was an outstanding cook and anyone who came to her home never left hungry. She was of Pentecostal faith and a member of Avon Park Estates Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Hodge was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years Vance Alvie Hodge, sons; Rev. George V. Hodge, Pete Thompson Hodge, and great grandson; Cameron Hodge. Leaving a true legacy of survivors, her children; Janice Altman – Sebring, FL, Mae Truett (Eddie) – Winter Haven, FL, Connie Hodge Todd (Richard) – Avon Park, FL, William Hodge (Lynda) – Sebring, FL, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, brother; Alfred Hodge (Peggy) – Avon Park, sister; Evelyn Hodge – Avon Park, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Hodge will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral home of Avon Park, FL, with family receiving friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Bougainvillea Cemetery.
