Elwood L. Singles

Elwood L. Singles, 89, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, in Sebring. He was born November 1, 1922, to Samuel and Tressie (Lambert) Singles in Flint, Michigan, and had been a winter resident of Sebring since 1970 and a permanent resident since around 1985. He was a stock chaser for a spark plug company and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Asia-Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was an avid golfer and a member of Pinecrest Golf and Country Club and the Sebring Municipal Golf Club; was a volunteer at Florida Hospital and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Singles and is survived by his children: Barbara (Rick) Laviolette, Cheboygan, MI and Robert L. (Julianne) Singles, Sebring; grandchildren: Heidi (David) Kleban of Portland, ME and great-grandchild, Zoe; Todd Dulude of Grand Blanc, MI and great-grandchildren Isabella and Lily; "Missy" Mellissa Laviolette, Cheboygan, MI; Robin L. Singles, Sebring, FL and Daniel (Stephanie) Hull of Orlando, FL and great-grandchildren Dylan, Emma and Ava. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012, in the Stephenson-Nelson Chapel, Sebring, with Mike Adams officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
