Elroy Harry Backman

Elroy Harry Backman, age 83, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 in Sebring, Florida. He was born on March 30, 1933 in Stannard Township, Michigan to the late Harry and Ruth (Larson) Backman.  Elroy was a veteran serving with the U. S. National Guard. He was a member of the AmVets #21 and American Legion #74. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.  Survivors include his daughter, Lauren D. Benedetto (Giovanni) of Lady Lake, FL; son, Ralph Backman of Villa Park, IL; sister, Marilyn Homoki of Bedford, PA; brother, Harold Backman of Saginaw, MI; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Backman, son, James Backman and his wife, Essie and son Robert Backman. There will be a graveside service on Monday, November 14, 2016, 11:00 am, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, FL.  All are invited to a luncheon immediately following the graveside service at DeSoto Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, 4328 Gammon Drive, Sebring, FL 33870.
