Elizabeth "Betty" D. Moore

Elizabeth “Betty” D. Moore, age 92, went to her Heavenly Father Wednesday, June 26, 2024.  She was born September 27, 1931 in New Brunswick, NJ to Frank and Pearl Monica (Revak) Deak.  Betty graduated from Pompano High School in1949 being proud that she was a “Beanpicker” (their school nickname).  She always loved to read and when younger, loved to sew.  Her big thing though has always been writing to friends and family.  Betty’s first job as a bookkeeper at Pompano High School led her to a lifetime career.  Among other places, she worked 9 years at a bank, later at a flight school and even a newspaper.  She loved working with numbers.  After living in the Florida Panhandle, they moved farther south until they were here in Avon Park.  Betty gives a most special “Thank You” to Fannie, Pat, and Nancy for helping her over the rough bumps.  Their friendship and that of all her friends gave her much Joy.  Betty always felt and said “Friends were Special Gifts from God,” and she truly believed that.  All those who came into her life helped make it a bit easier, she could not have made it alone.  It was always God and the special friends who helped make each day brighter.  Her one last thought now would be to write someone a letter today.  A letter brings much happiness each time it is read.  Thank you and God bless you all dear friends.  She is preceded in death on May 8, 2011 by her Beloved Husband of 57 years – William Moore; Parents; Sister – Dolares; numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.  She always felt and said “Friends were special gifts from God.”  She said it was always God and special friends who helped make each day brighter.  Funeral services will be held Monday, July 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park with burial following in Bougainvillea Cemetery.  Betty’s wishes were for memorial contributions to be made to the Highlands County Humane Society.
