Elfego M. Vargas, age 73, of Polk County, Florida, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026. He was born November 12, 1952 in Mexico to Angel Vargas and Carmen Mercado. He worked in construction, is of Catholic Faith, and has been a resident of Polk County, Florida for 40 years, coming from Texas. Elfego is survived by his Wife –Maria Vargas; Father – Angel Vargas; Children – Efren Vargas (Bethany); Gabriel Vargas; Elfego Vargas, Jr.; Rosa Vargas (Antonio); Marisol Vargas; Minerva Vargas(Osvaldo); Patricia Vargas; Brothers – Angel Vargas, Jr.; Adam Vargas; Santiago Vargas; Natalio Vargas; Numerous Grandchildren; and one Great Grandchild. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 1,2026 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with burial following in Bougainvillea Cemetery.
