Eleanor Frances Tripp died November 5, 2014 at the age of 94. Born August 26, 1920, in St. Louis, MO, she was the fifth of ten children growing up during the Great Depression. As a young girl she entered the Convent of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood in O'Fallon, Missouri where she ultimately became a nun, and was known as "Sister Ellen Rose". She graduated from St. Mary's Junior College in O'Fallon, then graduated in 1967 from St. Louis University, School of Social Service, St. Louis, MO, with a Masters in Social Work (MSW) and also attended Alverno College of Music, Milwaukee, WI. As a religious sister she taught at various schools in the Midwest, having learned to play and teach piano. She also had a beautiful singing voice. For many years she worked in the Miami area as a Clinical Social Worker II, including time at Jackson Memorial Hospital, HUD and Florida State Hospital. She retired in 1982 and moved to Sebring where she continued to do part-time social work, and where she became a loyal member of the Elks, VFW and Knights of Columbus. A loving, compassionate and generous friend to all, she is survived by her brothers, Daniel Tripp (Edna) of LaBelle, FL and Joseph Tripp of Sebring, FL, three nieces, Linda Baker of Miami, FL, Julie Dow of Miami, FL and Edie Foster of Longmeadow, MA, as well as her very dear friends, Dena Shaw and Betty Braswell both of Sebring, and her step-daughter, Jacquelyn Woodhams of NY. A special thank you to the caregivers of Precious Angels and Good Shepherd Hospice for the wonderful care that was given to Eleanor! A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
